Tressel expected to excite high school students about winter sports

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel is scheduled to speak at the Cardinal Mooney High School Winter Sports Rally Thursday.

Tressel will talk to Mooney students in hopes they get excited for the winter sports season.

Before Tressel became YSU President, he was the head coach at YSU and lead the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 2003 National Championship.

The Mooney Football Program has produced a number of professional football coaches and players.

Some of the successful alumni include YSU Head Football Coach Bo Pelini, former head football coach of the Florida Atlantic Owls Carl Pelini, Cleveland Browns Defensive Lineman Ishmaily Kitchen and Kyle McCarthy formerly of the Kansas City Chiefs.
