YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Youngstown Christian School will become Valley Christian School at the end of the current school year, it announced Thursday.
The transformation started five years ago as YCS started looking ahead to build a broader vision for the future. It recognized that it serves families from 15 school districts across three counties and that Youngstown is the hub of the Mahoning Valley.
“One of our visions is to expand, expand the influence of what we’re doing, adding more campuses. We already opened a specialty campus downtown called the Lewis School for Gifted Learning Potential,” Youngstown Christian School President Mike Pecchia said. “Also, things like online education. The field of education is changing so much, and we want to take advantage of that.”
