Power mostly restored in Austintown

A faulty transformer caused a power outage in Austintown, Ohio.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A transformer failure caused a power outage in Austintown early Friday morning, but power has since been mostly restored.

New numbers from First Energy show only a few customers in the area are still affected as of shortly after noon. Hundreds of customers were without power overnight near Raccoon Road and some remained without service Friday morning.

Police said that a transformer failed and electricity went out for hundreds of homes near Raccoon Road down to Kirk and Turner.

The outage was not weather-related.
