Winter weather sends shoppers to supermarkets

youngstown grocery stores emptied due to snow

YONGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Bad weather and shopping usually go hand in hand, and the case was no different the last few days across the Valley, as people flocked to stores now just in case they couldn’t later.

Sparkle Market Manager Debbie DeCato described a hectic scene Sunday afternoon as they worked to keep the shelves full for shoppers.

“It’s been crazy,” DeCato said. “We’re having a lot of fun. Yesterday was busy. Today’s obviously busy, and we’re just working hard trying to keep up with all the stocking.”

The most popular items for bad winter weather have been bread, eggs, milk and toilet paper, according to DeCato.
