Mother of Warren teen found in feces-filled house arrested

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Police arrested a woman on Jan. 28, charging that she endangered her child, who authorities found in a feces-filled house in November.

Niles Police arrested Melissa Bland at a Dollar General market after a warrant was issued for her. Bland posted $1,000 bond and is now free.

In November, Warren police went to the 2800 block of Beck St. S.E. to check on the welfare of a teenager who is visually impaired. Authorities said the house was filthy, containing dog feces and little to no food.

Police learned of the situation from the teen’s stepfather, who had paid a visit.
