Bond set for man accused of beating child

Bond was set for Jason Laney of Sebring, Ohio who is accused of beating his child with a wooden board.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Sebring man accused of beating his child with a wooden board appeared Tuesday in Mahoning County Court.

Jason Laney, 33, was arraigned on child endangering charges.

Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Dawn Cantalamessa said Laney confessed to the beating, saying he snapped when he was interviewed.

Judge Christian set Laney’s bond at $40,000. He is scheduled to appear Feb. 17 for a pretrial.

The school district called authorities after seeing bruises on the child.

A grand jury indicted Laney on Jan. 29.
