Camera and GPS tracking device nab copper thief

PULASKI TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) – A Pulaski man was arrested after a surveillance camera and GPS tracking device placed inside copper piping led police to the suspect.

Officials with Mortimer Excavating Co. located on Evergreen Road in Pulaski noticed their copper pipe was coming up missing. They installed surveillance cameras and placed a GPS tracking device inside their copper to see who was taking the pipe and where it was going.

On December 23, 2014 David Summerville was caught on camera taking the pipe and it was found in his garage with the GPS.

Summerville was charged February 11, 2015 with unlawful taking, simple trespass, trespass by motor vehicle and driving under suspension.

A preliminary hearing is set for later this month.
