protests over ydc closing

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – About 50 Ohio Civil Service Employee Association union members gathered at the Ice House Inn in Austintown Monday evening, voicing their displeasure with the closure of the Youngstown Developmental Center, announced last Wednesday.

Those 50 members organized a picket and discussed the future of the fight against closing local developmental centers.

The YDC is located in Mineral Ridge. Officials announced the closure Wednesday, and employees got official confirmation of the closure Sunday. The YDC is set to close by June of 2017.
