LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Lisbon school district might start classes a week early next year. That would end their summer break in the middle of August.
Lisbon School Superintendent Joseph Siefke believes a new school schedule will benefit the students and help them move forward with their learning.
The school board is expected to vote on changing the school calendar Wednesday night.
Siefke told the Morning Journal the new calendar would have classes begin Aug. 17 instead of Aug. 25.
This would allow students and teachers to wrap up midterms before winter break, and jump right into the new semester when they return. It also gives the students a break from testing as grades three through 10 must take the PARCC exams in February, shortly after they return from winter break.
The proposed schedule would still allow for a full week of spring break and classes would end the last week of May.
