Stabbing at meat processing plant leaves 1 dead, 1 hurt

FRANCONIA, Pa. (AP) – Authorities say a stabbing outside a suburban Philadelphia meat processing plant has left one employee dead and another injured.

Police and emergency responders in Montgomery County were called to the JBS plant in Franconia Township shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers say two men were involved in a fight outside the facility, and both were left with stab and slash wounds.

The district attorney’s office says 25-year-old Danny Vazquez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect was taken to another hospital for treatment. His name wasn’t released.

The plant formerly known as Moyer Meat Packing renders fats and other tissue from meat by-products for dog food and feed.
