Community gathers in support of police

The community gathered in support of police in a Blue Rally in Warren, Ohio.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County Sheriff Deputies and police officers held an event Saturday to build bridges with the community.

Sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police, the Blue Rally was held at Courthouse Square in Warren.

The day included speakers, and deputies gave out blue light bulbs and signs to people to display in their homes to show their support for police.

Organizer Rich McGrath said it’s important for the community to understand what law enforcement does.

“A lot of times the community doesn’t understand what we go through. So, we wanted to get them behind us today,” McGrath said.

McGrath says they got the idea to hold a rally after hearing about the woman giving away blue light bulbs in Hubbard last year.
