Pa. Turnpike issues advisory

BOARDMAN (WKBN) – The Pennsylvania Turnpike has issued a travel advisory for motorists, due to heavy snow, low visibility and frigid temperatures.

Winter storm watches and warnings have been issued for all of Pennsylvania, and heavy snow and sleet is expected throughout the day.

The agency says in a release that travelers should keep alert and allow time to arrive safely. When encountering changing weather conditions or approaching emergency workers on the road, drivers are asked to slow down speed and keep alert.

Also, drivers are advised to never attempt to pass a truck while it is plowing or spreading winter materials.

Motorists should also pack an emergency kit for their vehicles. A basic kit should include non-perishable food, water, blanket, small shovel, and warm clothes, the release states.
