Train derails in Sharon

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) — A Norfolk Southern locomotive derailed in Sharon on Sunday afternoon.

The train went off the tracks just before 4 p.m. on State Street, not too far away from Reyer’s Shoe Store.

The train caused some issues for drivers in the area.

A lot of people also stopped to see what was going on.

Locals, the Vescera family, were sled riding and noticed the train was just sitting there for an hour.

They went to check things out and were able to snap a few photos of the event as it was unfolding.

Right now, Norfolk Southern is in the process from cutting the cars away from the locomotive.

The cars will be taken back to a freight yard in Pennsylvania…

The train was supposed to be heading to Youngstown.
