Chef-turned-accused-jewelry-thief back in court

A former Niles, Ohio chef turned jewelry thief was arraigned in Trumbull County Court Wednesday.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A former chef was back in court Wednesday morning following a grand jury indictment last week.

Daimer Cescon, 44, is the former chef of D’Vino’s restaurant in Niles. Police say he admitted to stealing jewelry from a couple in Kinsman, with whom he was staying after D’Vino’s had to close.

The Trumbull County Sheriff recovered an $18,000 diamond Cescon sold to a store in Boardman.

Cescon told investigators he sold a second diamond, worth $12,000 to a different diamond store in Boardman.

A Trumbull County grand jury handed down an indictment on Thursday, charging him two counts of theft and one charge of grand theft.

Wednesday’s court hearing was an arraignment on those charges.
