Teter, Anderson earn All-Ohio at State Diving

Girard's Savannah Teter

Canton, OH (WKBN) – Two of the top divers in the Valley went up against the best in the state this morning at the Division II State Diving championships. Girard’s Savannah Teter and Faith Anderson from East Palestine both made return trips to Canton Wednesday morning.

Girard’s Savannah Teter came in ranked 6th in the state, and was in the top five most of the day. But on her very last dive, her foot just skimmed the board on her way down, which resulted in a low score. And ultimately a 12th place finish. It was Teter’s third straight trip to states as a junior.

“Being out there and just being here is a really huge accomplishment of course,” said Teter. ” I did the skill in warm ups, I do the skill in practice. Everything is fine, it’s just…accidents happen and it stinks, but I thought I did pretty good.”

East Palestine sophomore Faith Anderson was back at States for the second straight year, and improved on her placing…making it to the final round and finishing 15th overall.

“Last year, when I competed I didn’t even make the final round, and it was really nice to be able to make it this year,” said Anderson. “I’ve been sick all week, I can barely even talk so to be able to even dive to my abilities was just amazing for me.”

“You can’t get much better,” said coach Ron Navarra. “I was really proud of them for those performances.”

“I’m gonna be back [next year] and I’m gonna be better than ever,” said Teter.
