Warren mayor makes plea for residents to shovel walks

Warren Mayor Doug Franklin is calling on residents to shovel their sidewalks.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren Mayor Doug Franklin is making a public plea for residents living in the city to shovel their sidewalks.

This comes after 23 first graders at Lincoln Elementary School wrote letters to him asking for the snow removal so they can walk to their bus stops safely.

Franklin took the time Wednesday to visit Mrs. Shrodek’s classroom to read Virginia Lee Burton’s “Katie and the Big Snow” to the kids. He says he was impressed by their concerns and how engaged they were with civic activities.

“It is really heartwarming because in my mind, it is going to lead them to being good citizens in the future,” Franklin said.

The children were very happy to have a special visitor and thanked him for getting the word out to shovel Warren’s sidewalks.
