Napoleon, OH man honors soldiers with snow eagle

snow sculpture in ohio honors troops

NAPOLEON, Ohio (CNN) – A man in Northwest Ohio made use of the piles of snow in front of his house, sculpting them into an eagle to honor the United States military.

Roger L. Pugh of Napoleon carved the snow into a one-story-high sculpture of a bald eagle wrapped in the American flag. In front of the snow eagle, Pugh placed boots, a wooden gun and a helmet.

“If it can put a smile on somebody’s face, or make them think about our soldiers, mission accomplished,” Pugh said.

Pugh told WTOL-TV in Toledo that he builds a snow sculpture in his yard every year. He worked on the eagle bit by bit each day after work.

“It’s a tribute to our fallen soldiers,” Pugh said. “The ones that covered my back and taking care of my butt for a lot of years.”
