Volney students get special delivery

Delta Sigma Theta donated books and money to students at Volney Rogers

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Students at Volney Rogers Middle School in Youngstown got a special delivery of free books and supplies on Thursday.

Members of the Youngstown Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority brought the books and a $250 donation to the students as part of the Literacy Across America program.
The goal is simple: Encourage the students to read.

“This is our contribution to support the genius and excellence of our children,” Dr. Michelle McCollin of Delta Sigma Theta said.

Because it is Black History Month, the books donated on Thursday focused on black history and culture. In the past, the sorority has donated math and science supplies and other things the students may need.
