Brady brings home two state medals for Canfield

State Swimming: Canfield's Connor Brady

Canton, OH (WKBN) – Canfield senior Connor Brady took fourth place in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke Friday at the OHSAA Division State Swimming Championships.

Brady was making his fourth straight trip to Canton and the C.T. Branin Natatorium. In his first race of the day with the butterfly, he took fourth with a time of 51.09 seconds.

“It is absolutely awesome, I would not want to do it any other way but maybe be a bit higher,” said Brady. “But I remember coming my freshman and sophomore year and wanting to be on the podium so bad. It is one of those things where I had to work to get there and it is amazing to see everything come together like this and everything be such an awesome night like this.”

In the backstroke, Brady was near the front of the pack all race, and again took 4th, in a time of 52.03.

The Canfield relay teams also took part in two consolation heats Friday. In the 200 yard medley, the Cardinals finished first in the heat (1:40.37), which was good enough for a 9th place state finish. Then in the 400 yard freestyle, they took 10th place overall with a time of 3:17.45.
