YPD: Suspect flees from St. Elizabeth

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown police are searching for a man they said fled from the hospital after being arrested Thursday afternoon.

Kelli Coffer, 31, was arrested about 4 p.m. Thursday following a two-car crash on Market Street at Falls Avenue. According to a police report, Coffer was the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash and his driver’s license is suspended.

Coffer also has two active warrants, one for obstructing official business and one for assault, the report states. He was issued a traffic citation for the crash and is due in court March 9.

Police took him to the Mahoning County Jail, but they were called back 15 minutes later because the sheriff’s office would not take him because Coffer needed to go to the hospital.

Police took him to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where a police hold was placed on him. While doing paperwork, the officer was notified Coffer had escaped from the hospital, the report states.
