Meacham sworn in as Mahoning Co. auditor

Ralph Meacham was sworn in as Mahoning County Auditor

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mahoning County has a new auditor on the job as of Tuesday morning.

Ralph Meacham was sworn in Monday night as Mahoning County Auditor by 7th District Court of Appeals Judge Carol Robb.

A ceremonial swearing-in was held Tuesday in the Mahoning County Courthouse rotunda.

Commissioners appointed Meacham acting auditor last week after a three-judge panel suspended Michael Sciortino for the rest of his term. Scoritino is named as a defendant in the Oakhill Renaissance Place criminal conspiracy case.

Meacham just got back from vacation, and said he wanted to be sworn in as soon as possible to keep the auditor’s office running smoothly.

He said he plans to follow through with his campaign promise of bringing accountability, accessibility and transparency to the office. He also added one more promise.

“I am concerned about the county to continue in these tough economic times. My one goal will be sustainability,” Meacham said.

Meacham is the first Republican to hold the auditor’s post in 30 years.
