Carl Pelini expected to coach at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The YSU Football team has one spot left to fill on the new coaching staff. That hire will not come without controversy. It’s probably the worst kept secret on campus that Head Coach Bo Pelini wants to have his brother Carl on staff.

All signs point to Carl Pelini being named the Penguin’s new defensive line coach. Official word from the YSU is expected soon. Carl Pelini coached with Bo for four years at Nebraska, before taking the head coaching position at Florida Atlantic.

His time with the Owls was brief. He resigned less than two years later amid allegations of drug use…something he strongly denies.

His new position with Youngstown State will be his first coaching job since F-A-U. He is likewise a former Head Coach at Austintown Fitch High School.
