Fire truck, SUV collide in northeast Ohio, injuring 4

CHARDON, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say three firefighters and another driver were hurt when a fire truck responding to a call was struck head-on by a sport utility vehicle in northeast Ohio.

The injured drivers of the Munson Township fire truck and the SUV were rushed to a hospital after the crash Thursday afternoon in Geauga County. The SUV driver was reported to have very serious injuries. The township fire department described the truck driver’s injuries as minor.

Two other firefighters were taken to a hospital and later released.

State troopers say a minivan had pulled over to yield to the oncoming fire truck, which was using its lights and sirens. The SUV hit the van from behind, then collided with the fire truck.

Authorities say the van driver wasn’t seriously hurt.
