Hubbard detectives working to solve murder

HUBBARD (WKBN) — A team of Hubbard detectives continues to pore over evidence they have collected since Saturday, in the murder of a city man.

Tuesday, WKBN is continuing to ask questions and dig for answers as to what happened to the man. Monday, Trumbull County Coroner Humphrey Germaniuk said Pitts died from a single gunshot wound to the head and that the death was not a suicide.

According to Hubbard police, Cody Pitts, 26, a 2007 Hubbard High School graduate, died of a single gunshot wound to the head. So far, police have not named any suspects in the case.

The Trumbull County 911 Center received a call about 3:30 a.m. Saturday from a woman who said she almost hit a person lying on Orchard Avenue near the Downtown Coffee Cafe.

The cafe was the last place Pitts was seen alive. Police tell WKBN they are in the process of interviewing people. They have also reviewed surveillance video that was recorded the night Pitts was killed.
