LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) – An unidentified man’s body was found Wednesday morning off Seigler Road in Wayne Township.
According to Columbiana County Sheriff Ray Stone, the body is believed to be connected to an incident reported at a Desellem Road trailer in Lisbon over the weekend and was most likely dumped at the Seigler Road location, according to WKBN print partner, the Lisbon Morning Journal.
Stone said Wednesday Daniel Landsberger, 54, is in custody and is considered a “person of interest” in the death of the man found. Stone declined to comment on what he believes could be the cause of death.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Information and Investigation and the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office are investigating. There was no identification found with the body, the Journal reported.
Deputies were tipped to the location of the body by someone who was out walking and came upon “something suspicious.”
Sunday, police were contacted by a Desellem Road man who said his neighbor told him he had beaten a man up before his girlfriend convinced that man to come party at their house, according to a police report. The man then said his neighbor told him he had killed the man at the party on Friday night, according to the report. Police initially had no body or evidence to determine if the crime actually happened.
Since then, police arrested Landsberger on a tampering with evidence charge because police said he burned a mattress, box springs and a head board from a room in his trailer where they said blood was found, according to the Morning Journal.
“There may have been another witness or two that we are following leads on. We don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle as of yet. But we believe he was the main character involved,” Stone said.
