Two McDonald players were in double-figures but it wasn't enought to get past St. Thomas Aquinas Friday night.

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN)-Last year, McDonald was routed in the Division IV District Championship game, 90-48 to the eventual state runner-up St. Thomas Aquinas. This year, their rematch was much closer.

The Knights jumped out to 21-8 advantage in the 1st quarter, but the Devils closed the gap and entered halftime trailing by just 8 points.

McDonald, however, would never get closer than that. St. Thomas Aquinas led from start to finish, and clinched their 3rd consecutive District title, 72-53.

Aquinas had three players in double figures. Junior guard Jacob Paul led the way with 24 points. Seniors Anthony Moeglin and Daniel Piero both chipped in 14 points each.

McDonald was led by junior Jake Reckard who finished with 20 points. Senior Brad Woodley added 15 for the Devils, who finish the season with 18 wins, and 6 losses.

Aquinas will advance to play Warren JFK in the Regional Semifinals, next Tuesday at 8pm at the Canton Fieldhouse.
