President Obama to talk about middle-class in Cleveland

CLEVELAND (AP) – The White House announced on Friday that President Barack Obama will give a speech next week on middle-class economics in Cleveland.

Few details about the president’s trip have been made public. He will be delivering the speech on Wednesday at the City Club in downtown Cleveland. The president’s last trip to the city was in November 2013 when he visited a steel plant.

City Club chief executive officer Dan Moulthrop said Friday there had been ongoing conversations with the White House about an Obama visit. The organization learned on Thursday that Obama wanted to speak at the City Club.

Moulthrop says the City Club has hosted every sitting president since Ronald Reagan. President George W. Bush spoke at the City Club in March 2006.
