West Branch Girls Basketball Regional Champions

BARBERTON, Ohio (WKBN) – The West Branch Girls Basketball team is headed to the State Tournament for the third time in program history, following a dominant 50-30 win over Geneva in the Division II Regional Finals Saturday afternoon at Barberton High School.

The Warriors’ defense held Geneva scoreless until just over five minutes left in the second quarter. West Branch opened the game on a 20-0 run.

Kaylee Manning led West Branch in scoring with 13 points, while Melinda Trimmer also had a strong game with 12. Pavin Heath chipped in with 9 points in the victory.

The Warriors advance to face Toledo Rogers (23-5 AP #10) in the Division II State Semifinals Friday at 3PM at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of Ohio State University.

West Branch previously advanced to the State Tournament in both 1997 and 2004. The Warriors won a state title in 2004.
