Man accused of robbing, beating delivery driver

Youngstown police arrested James Willie Brown for a robbery on Jacobs Road in Youngstown, Ohio.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown man is behind bars after police say he beat a delivery driver and robbed him outside of a convenience store on the city’s east side.

According to a police report, a driver for the R.L. Lipton Company was making a delivery Monday at about 11 a.m. to the Foodway Mart on Jacobs Road when he was attacked.

The driver was at his truck loading up a delivery cart when a man approached him, forced him to the ground and hit him in the head with a gun. The suspect took over $500 from the driver.

Police arrested James Willie Brown, 35, of Youngstown in connection to the incident. He is charged with aggravated robbery and is scheduled to arraigned Friday. Brown also faces a parole violation.
