YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)- A well-traveled highway ramp in Youngstown could be open to traffic again by this weekend.
Cleanup work continued Thursday along a stretch of the ramp from the Himrod Avenue Expressway to the Madison Avenue Expressway.
The ramp was closed March 12 when the ground gave way, creating a mudslide onto the road.
Chuck Shasho, deputy director of Youngstown Public Works, said it took crews awhile to dig away the debris to determine the cause.
“It turns out that there was a broken under-drain. That was the culprit on the problem. We went ahead and fixed that. We put some additional drainage stone underneath it, and we’ll re-pour the slabs tomorrow and get the road re-opened,” Shasho said.
Officials have not yet determined how much the repairs will cost.
