BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Autism Society of Ohio-Mahoning Valley hosted its second annual Resource Fair on Saturday.
Held at the Southern Park Mall in Boardman, the event is a way for people to learn about autism services and organizations in the area.
Organizers said teaching people who help nearby is one of the biggest challenges to helping those living with autism.
“The biggest problem with autism is the lack of interaction and communication between the agencies. So for a family who is living with this new diagnosis, they don’t want to be spending their entire day knocking on doors,” said Aundrea Cika, director of the Autism Society of Ohio.
According to the Autism Society of Ohio, there are more than 60,000 children and adults in the state who are affected by the autism spectrum.
