1 dead in Edinburg, Pa. fire

One person was killed in a fire in Bessemer, Pa.


EDINBURG, Pa. (WKBN) – A fire at a home in Lawrence County early Monday morning claimed the life of one person.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Robert Knepp, 82, and two of his family members were sleeping when a fire broke out in the home on the 1100 block of Hillsville Rd in Edinburg, PA.

All three family members escaped the burning house alive. Knepp collapsed on the lawn outside his house.

A witness said a Fire Chief tried to perform CPR on Knepp and was later confirmed dead by a Coroner on scene.

Crews were called just after midnight to the house on Hillsville Road in Edinburg after a witness saw smoke and flames coming from the structure.

The home is a total loss.

The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Crews from Neshannock, Poland, Pulaski and Mahoning Township fought the fire for hours.
