17-year-old arraigned on murder charge

David Jenkins to be tried as an adult

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Authorities arraigned 17-year-old David Jenkins in Mahoning County Court Tuesday morning.

Jenkins was indicted earlier this month in the August shooting death of Shawn Cortez.

Police say the shooting happened after an argument broke out on Winona Avenue between rivaling families that led to gunfire.

Jenkins is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and aggravated riot.

He will be tried as an adult.
