YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Thursday was Autism Awareness Day.
To mark the event, the Youngstown State University Honors Program hosted staff and families from the Rich Center for Autism. In keeping with the season, the day included an Easter egg hunt.
Organizers said events like this are a great way to stay involved in the community.
“And that is really what the Honors Program is about, is serving the community. So it just kind of makes sense to get more involved with the Rich Center given it is right here and there is a lot of good things we can do,” Allen Metz of the YSU Honors Program said.
Many of the kids who took part in the event were wearing blue in honor of the theme of World Autism Day, which is “Light It Up Blue.” April is Autism Awareness Month.
