YSU supporter Joe Nohra dies

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A longtime leader of the Youngstown State University community has died.

Joseph Nohra, 79, held seats on the YSU Board of Trustees and on the board of the YSU Foundation. He was a 1957 graduate of the university.

He was an executive for the Cafaro Co. and after his retirement, he took leadership roles at the university.

“He remained engaged with YSU throughout his life, serving as a university trustee, a YSU Foundation trustee. He will be missed. He was a tremendous leader and he leaves a tremendous legacy to our university,” YSU Foundation President Paul McFadden said.

Nohra’s son, Jude Nohra, is continuing the family tradition. He joined the YSU Foundation board this year.

His other son, Joseph Nohra, is the superintendent of the Struthers Local School District.

Nohra also was a deacon at St. Maron Church on Meridian Road in Youngstown.
