RAVENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – A driver for a Canfield lumber company had to be flown to a Cleveland hospital after a crash Tuesday morning on the Ohio Turnpike.
The accident happened around 9 a.m. in the westbound lanes in Ravenna. The crash shut down one lane for a while.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the driver of the first tractor trailer began to slow down and pulled into the far right hand lane after he began to lose one of his tires. That is when a box truck from Baird Brothers in Canfield rammed into the back of the trailer.
Troopers said the driver of the box truck was trapped in the cab for a short time, but they were able to pull him out. The driver was wearing his seat belt, which troopers said saved his life.
The name and condition of the driver have not been released. Police are still investigating, but believe citations will be issued to the Baird Bros. driver.
