Mooney outlasts Ursuline in extras

The Cardinals topped the Irish 2-1 in 9 innings

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – Cardinal Mooney’s Brennen Olesh came through with an RBI single scoring Mike Williams in the bottom of the ninth inning to seal a 2-1 victory over Ursuline Tuesday at Cene Park.

The Cardinals opened the scoring in the third inning on Bryce Richie’s RBI groundout scoring Dom Pecchia.  The Irish tied the game in the top of the sixth inning on a passed ball.

Ursuline’s Joel Hake suffered the loss on the mound, despite striking out 8 batters.  He also went 1-4 at the plate.

Mooney’s Jack Lynch tallied a pair of hits in the win.

The Cardinals improve to 3-2, while the Irish drops to 2-2.
