East State Street in Salem reopens

East State Street in Salem, Ohio, is now reopened

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – A portion of East State Street in downtown Salem has reopened after being shut down for about a month because of building demolitions.

Crews knocked down both the Tan-Fastic building and Rossetti’s Bakery. The Tan-Fastic building had started to crumble and once demolition on it began, the bakery building sustained some structural damage as well.

Salem Fire Chief Jeff Hughes said he condemned the former Butler Art Museum branch because of safety concerns. The building is located next to the demolished properties.

Owners now have 30 days to either fix, sell or demolish it.
