Poland officer uses Narcan kit to save life of victim

A police officer in Poland, Township used Narcan to save the life a victim who was overdosing on heroin.

POLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – A quick thinking patrolman with the Poland Township police department saved a man’s life Monday night.

A 25-year-old man had overdosed on heroin and a friend called police for help. The man stopped breathing and the officer who responded used a Narcan kit to stop the overdose.

“The color came back. The 25-year-old sat up. About the same time, medical responded and they checked him out and transported him to the hospital,” said Poland Township Police Chief Brian Goodin.

The kits were provided by the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the first time a county police agency has used Narcan to save someone’s life.
