Mooney baseball blasts by Marlington

The Cardinals used a big 4th inning to take down Marlington, 15-6 Saturday at Cene Park.

Struthers, OH (WKBN) – Cardinal Mooney used a big 4th inning to take down Marlington, 15-6 Saturday at Cene Park.

The Cardinals took an early 4-1 lead in the 1st inning, but let the Dukes back in it. Marlington scored 5 runs in the top of the 4th inning to take a 6-4 lead.

But Mooney got the bats going themselves later in the inning, as Andrew Armstrong hit a triple to right field that scored three runs. Armstrong would also score on an error to clear the bases and give Mooney an 11-6 lead.

Armstrong would finish the day going 2-3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Jack Lynch also went 2-3 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Christian Lowery had a double with 2 RBI, Dom Pecchia brought in two runs along with a double.

Mooney improves to 10-5 on the season.
