Reserve rolls by Heartland Christian

The Blue Devils used balanced hitting to get by Heartland Christian Saturday at the Columbiana Youth Baseball Complex.

Columbiana, OH (WKBN) – The Western Reserve baseball team used balanced hitting to get by Heartland Christian, 7-2 Saturday at the Columbiana Youth Baseball Complex.

Reserve got on the board early and took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Ian Hames pitched a complete for the Blue Devils, giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs with 5 K’s. Hames also went 2-3 from the plate.

Jeep DiCioccio also went 2-3 for Reserve with 2 runs batted in. The Sommers brothers led Heartland Christian in hitting, as both Christian and Nathan Sommers went 2-3 on the day.

Heartland’s Phil Bell pitched 6 innings, giving up 9 hits, 3 ER, with 4 strikeouts. The Lions fell to Hubbard later in the day, 8-4 and now have a 9-4 overall record.

Western Reserve improves to 16-3 on the season.
