University of Toledo police search over, no threat found

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) – A police search of the University of Toledo student union has found no threat of a gunman or any danger and police have issued an all clear.

University spokesman Jon Strunk says the student union will remain closed, however, until further notice.

Strunk says the search began after a man called Toledo police around 4 p.m. Saturday and alleged he had a gun to his head and had stabbed his girlfriend at the student union.

The building was evacuated and a “dangerous situation” alert was posted on the school website and was issued to every student and school employee telling them to stay away from the building.

Strunk says that over more than four hours, police did a room-by-room search and sweeps, and found no suspect or victim.
