Heartland Christian’s Bell in Diamond King mix

Heartland Christian's Phil Bell

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – This week’s Diamond King update takes us to Heartland Christian in Columbiana.  The Lions will be a 3-seed in the upcoming Division 4 tournament thanks in large part to Senior Phillip Bell.  He’s hitting over .360 with 20 runs scored… and he’s been great on the mound with 23 strikeouts in just 21 innings.

“Before the season we always set goals, and my goal was to keep doing my best and dominate more, to dominate teams. so pitching has been really good this year. we got a really good pitching staff all together, and it’s been a good year,” Bell said.

The following players also made their presence felt last week:

Champion’s Michael Turner tallied six hits and six RBI in an impressive win over Liberty last Monday.

Michael McDonough from Crestview had 14 strikeouts in a complete game shutout of South Range on Thursday

Last but not least, Ursuline’s Joel Hake racked up 15 K’s, and didn’t allow a single run against the Raiders.
