Leetonia man federally charged with sex trafficking

LEETONIA, Ohio (WKBN) – Federal authorities have charged Lucas J. Ippolito, 51, of Leetonia, Ohio, with transportation of a minor to engage in illegal sex, sexual exploitation of a child and receipt and possessing and distributing child pornography, according to a release sent Thursday from the U.S. Attorney’s office.

The indictment charges that around January 23, Ippolito transported a 15-year-old girl from Pennsylvania to Ohio, with the intent that she would in sexual activity for which Ippolito could be charged with a criminal offense.

The indictment also charges that on or about February 14, March 14 and April 3, Ippolito did the same to a 13-year-old girl, and that between December 3, 2014 March 9, Ippolito persuaded the two minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct so he could create a visual representation of the act.

U.S. Attorney Steven Dettlebach also said that Ippolito possessed and distributed child pornography.

Leetonia Police arrested and charged Ippolito with similar offenses on April 7.
