train derails near pittsburgh, pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH (AP) – About 10 cars have derailed on a freight train in Pittsburgh, but emergency dispatcher say there were no immediate reports of injuries or hazardous substances spilled.

Allegheny County dispatchers say the derailment was reported shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Video from Pittsburgh television stations was showing box and other cars toppled onto their sides or leaning over. The train does not appear to be completely off the tracks.

Officials have set up a command post near the scene, but didn’t immediately say who owns the train, where it was from or where it was heading.

The cars tipped over in the city’s Hazelwood section, not far from the Hot Metal Bridge, which crosses the Monongahela River a couple of miles east of downtown.
