10th annual Boy Scout breakfast held

Boy Scouts of America breakfast in Canfield

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The 10th Annual Friends of Scouting breakfast fundraiser was held Tuesday morning at Camp Stambaugh.

The breakfast benefits the scouting program. John Schlobohm, the assistant scout executive, said scouting is instrumental in teaching young men and women life skills, leaderships skills, citizenship and community service. But some families can’t afford it.

One of the things the breakfast does is help find a solution.

“Yes, one of the programs we support is called Scoutreach. That is available to provide scouting for boys in Youngstown Schools that maybe can’t afford scouting. Or perhaps their parents are unable to bring to them to the program. We conduct it during the school day in several schools in Youngstown,” Schlobohm said.

Their goal is to raise $30,000 this year. They already raised $21,000 this year before the breakfast began.
