NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – Former Niles tax investigator Heidi Powell pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of theft in office.
Powell resigned her position with the city in early October and waived her right to a disciplinary hearing. Powell originally entered a not guilty plea in the case.
In her resignation letter to Mayor Ralph Infante, Powell apologized for her actions and the embarrassment she said she caused the city and her family.
Powell, 33, was suspended from her job after she was arrested on a charge of theft in office. Investigators accused her of stealing $731 from the city tax office.
