Liver donor found for Trumbull Co. girl

A girl from Trumbull County Ohio needs a new liver.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Trumbull County Children Services announced Wednesday that they have found a donor for Jamie, 4, a Trumbull County girl who has been in need of a liver transplant since April.

According to a post on the Facebook page A Liver for Jamie, the donor is David Denovchek of Niles. Denovchek confirmed that he is the donor via a message on his page, where he is raising money for the donation process.

Doctors have not set a surgery date for Jamie, who is staying at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Jamie has biliary artresia, a disease of the bile ducts that affects only infants.

She has been in the hospital in Pittsburgh since January. She is listed in stable, but critical condition, since her disease is considered fatal without a new liver.
