Canfield business evacuated after fire

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Employees evacuated a Canfield business Thursday morning after a fire there caught a wall on fire.

The fire broke out shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday at Star Extruded Shapes at 7055 Herbert Road in Canfield. Firefighters from the Austintown, Canfield and Green Township Fire Departments assisted in putting out the fire.

Cardinal Joint Fire District Chief Don Hutchison said that a worker using a torch to repair an overhead garage door caught one of the walls on fire.

The fire injured no one and caused about $30,000 in damage, according to Hutchison.

According to the company’s website, Star has been in business since 1981 and makes extruded aluminum shapes.
