CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – The Campbell Police Department promoted four of its own on Friday.
Mayor Bill Vansuch swore in Joe Pavlansky, Dave Smith and Charles Butch as Detective-Sergeants. Chief Drew Rauzan swore in Kevin Sferra as a Lieutenant.
“It’s an honor and a privilege that I see the younger generation taking adhere to their jobs and it’s again an honor to promote them. They’re very well deserving of it,” said Vansuch.
Family and friends watched as the officers took their oaths.
Sferra has worked in the police department since 2001. He most recently served as a Detective-Sergeant since last September. He served as a patrol officer from 2001 until 2014. He also has served as the department’s lead detective and Mahoning County Drug Task Force representative. Lt. Sferra also has served with the Poland Village Police Department. Sferra will also serve as the department’s Assistant Police Chief.
Pavlansky has served with the police department full time since 2009, and is a United States Army Veteran. Smith has served with the police department full time since 2009 and continues to serve as the department’s full time representative to the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force for Mahoning County.
Detective-Sergeant Butch has served with the police department since 2009 and prior to joining the Campbell force, served with the Coitsville Police Department from 1998 until 2009.
